Sugar Cane: Pakistan v India

Sugar Ccane
is grown in Pakistan and India. In Pakistan, the provinces of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Paktunkhawa are the main producers of sugar cane. It is produced in the land which is irrigated by means of canals.

A large proportion of the sugar-cane is crushed for the production of “GUR” or “SHAKAR” and the rest is crushed in modern mills for the manufacture of refined crystal sugar.
 Sugar-cane is grown in nearly all the states of India. But most of it is produced in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Bìhar, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and some other states.

The cultivation of sugar-cane requires high temperature and plenty of rainfall or water. It is also cultivated in Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.
