Tahira Mazhar Passed Away

Tahira MazharLahore: Tahira Mazhar Ali who was known as a member of the National Workers Party’s Central Working Committee is no more between us as she died on 23rd March in Shah Jamal, Lahore. The funeral of Tahira Mazhar has held on today early in the morning at 9:30 am at House No 7, Street 3, Shah Jamal, Lahore as she left a daughter and two sons.

Late Tahira Mazhar who struggled greatly for human and women’s right for over 60 years was born in Lahore as Sir Sikander Hayat Khan who served as prime minister of united Punjab was the father of this veteran leader. She was granddaughter of Nawab Muzaffar Ali Khan who was known as famous landlord of Punjab. Tahira Mazhar complelted her studies from Queen Mary School in Lahore and got married in her early age with Mazhar Ali Khan who was a great journalist of Pakistan.

Tahira belonged from famous and rich family who started her political career after her marriage and she started her Democratic Women’s Association (DWA) in 1950. DWA is known as first ever first women’s rights organization of the country which sponsored by the Communist Party as today it is known as one of the internationally run organizations. However Tahira is considered as great inspiration for women who taught to raise voice for your rights.
