Karachi: Sunni Ittehad Council Deputy Secretary General Tariq Mehboob has stated that the masses should jihad against poverty. ‘Segmentation of people discriminates rich and poor which is against the preaching of Islam’, he stressed.
He expressed these views while addressing at the Gulshan’s Islamic Mission Hall of Pakistan Islamic Welfare Trust organized in relevance to help the poor people on the Eid occasion. On the occasion, Tariq Mehboob distributed dresses, food commodities, sewing machines and various other necessities. In his address, Tariq Mehboob said inflation and unemployment is raising the poverty rate in the society.
Segmentation is a form of creating discrimination and creating discriminatory feeling among the masses. The Suuni Ittehad member spoke that if fair system of Zakat distribution is formed that better helping of the needy and poor can be done. He said that the feudal lords and industrialists run system have elevated the power lust, injustice and looting. Under their authority, the country presents contradictory picture to that of Islamic and welfare state.
The occasion was attended by Allama Faisal Azizi, Pir Mukhtar Siddiqui, Masood Alam and former female councilor Khursheed Zareen.
