Thar power plant work has been stopped due to lack of interest from government. Works on all power plants have been delayed due to non provision of funds by Sindh government. This project was started by previous government which aimed at to overcome electric shortfall in the country.
Sindh High Court (SHC) Hyderabad circuit bench formed a committee and ensured that Sindh government will release sufficient funds immediately for coal electric power plant and construction of dam. They will prepare a report after investigation on disadvantages and negative impact on environment of dam. Residents appealed to Sindh High Court that it will create negative impact on forest, livestock and environment.
Some people are of the view that influential private owners of power plants wanted to close down this project. Further they cannot see Pakistan progressing that’s why they are creating lobbies in the government circles ahead of the national interest.
