The Pluralistic Or Monadistic

The pluralistic or monadistic view of the state is just the opposite of the monistic view. It regards the state as a composite body in which the individuals have instinct and independent existence of their own, while the state exists merely as a convenient contrivance or mechanism to protect the weak against the strong.

The extreme monadistic view rejects the state altogether and regards the society as the mere aggregation of individuals, each of whom can exist and flourish without the aid of the state.

Every individual is thus a self-contained unit or monad which, does not depend on others for his existence and survival. This view is found in such theories as pure individualism, anarchism, and in some socialist theories, like Guild Socialism.
