The Road Named After Mr Jinnah – MA Jinnah Road

MA Jinnah Road is one of Karachi’s and possibly Pakistan’s, busiest thoroughfares. It stretches from the Jinnah Bridge (near Port Grand) to Mr Jinnah’s Mausoleum. It was initially called Bunder Road and in Kurrachee: Past, Present and Future, Alexander Baillie described it as the road where “beats the commercial heart of Karachi…it must have been one of the first roads laid out in Karachi, leading as it did from the bunder to the barracks.”

After Partition, it was named after the Quaid-e-Azam, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, whose birthday will be celebrated throughout the country on December 25.

Due to the fact that it connects several areas and is also where the city’s most frequented commercial areas and offices are located, MA Jinnah Road continues to provide lucrative commercial options (including retail spaces, standalone shops, offices and vacant plots) to investors across Pakistan. Property value and demand has increased by eight to 15% over the last two years.

The types of commercial properties available on MA Jinnah Road include:

  1. Standalone shops and retail outlets are MA Jinnah Road’s main attraction. Standalone shops are primarily located in commercial pockets including Boulton, jama and Liaquat Cloth Markets, which have been around for decades. The more recent multi-storey shopping plazas and malls provide retail outlet and even facilities such as air-conditioning, parking and back-up generators.
