Workplace Sanity Problems & Solution

Dear Workplace Sanity, I am a Human Resource student and i completed my MBA almost six years ago. I am interested in a home-based job. I am a mother and don’t want to go out for work. I have the passion to work for Islam and i like my field as well.

What i really want to do is to develop customised Islamic-based training materials for organisations. I have an average working knowledge of HR and some idea of human resources from an Islamic perspective. However, i don’t know how to strengthen these basics and develop training materials that focus on the ethics and other practical Islamic solutions to HR issues and then find the appropriate customers.

Dear Blurred Idea, Congratulations. You have found your voice and desire. Now it’s time to get your voice, your message and your dream out into the world. In order to do that, you will need to become an EXPERT! Expert are always ‘student’ first; they are constantly learning in their area of expertise. Think of yourself as a reseaecher-reposter. What that means is study everything you can about your topic. Read, read, and read some more. You should be reading at least one book a week on your topic. Also, do lots of research. What does your market say about this topic? What are specific problems your market faces with respect to your topic?

Once you have done all the reading and researching, next, consolidate your learning. What are the five to seven tools and strategies, the best practice in your topic area that you can teach other people? Break down and synthesis the abundant and complicated information into practical, tactical steps and tools.

Expert are ‘trainers and teachers’ second; they continuously share what they have learned though different channels; the most important channel being role-modelling. Everything you say and teach needs to be exhibited in your own personal practices. You not only need to be an academic expert in your topic area, you need to ensure your message is heard loud and clear in your appearance, your communication and in all your professional interactions. Becoming an expert in any field takes a lot of hard work. If you are ready to put in the time, energy and resource, then welcome aboard!

All the success! Workplace Sanity
