Workplace Sanity Questions & Solutions

Dear Workplace Sanity,
Six years ago I was selected as a management trainee officer by a leading public sector commercial bank of the country, and was subsequently posted to a remote Station, far from hometown, along with three other colleagues.  After serving for fix years, my colleagues have been transferred to their hometown, but the management had turned a deaf ear to my request. Having no other options or resources (contacts, kickbacks, political pressure etc), i have decided to file a writ petition in the court of law to challenge this discrimination (although the employer has the right of transfer and posting).

Transfer Troubles
Dear Transfer Troubles,
Now, I am no lawyer; all can do is offer you a bit of ”uncommon common sense”: DON’T BE A FOOL! Have you heard Newton’s third law? It state that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. If you fight, they will fight back.
At the time of joining you were most probably informed about posting and transfer, and you accepted it as part of your term of employment. You probably even SIGNED an agreement showing your acceptance.
Your employer has done nothing wrong, and you have nothing to legally support your argument. Going to court could backfire on you. Instead of getting a transfer, YOU could be held liable!
I suggest you put in a formal request for a transfer stating your reasons Along with any supporting evidence. If you know your request will one be entertained (your employer has the right not to entertain it), then simply look for a new job in your hometown.
Six years, right? It is about time you made move anyway.
All the success!
