Zahoor Elahi Road: Most Lavish Residential Area of Lahore

Named after the late Pakistani statesman, Zahoor Elahi Road is one of Lahore’s primary thoroughfares. It stretches for approximately 32 kilometers between Canal Bank Road and Main Boulevard. The commercial and residential areas nearby are referred to as Zahoor Elahi Road, and given that it is located in Lahore’s upscale Gulberg, properties there are among the most expensive in the city.

Home to the elite: If you drive down the quite residential pockets of Zahoor Elahi Road, you are likely to find large, luxurious houses exhibiting contemporary architectural trends, complete with large manicured lawns, in addition to well maintained green belts and plenty of rambling, old trees. No wonder then, this part of Lahore has been home to the city’s elite for decades.

Education is key: The presence of several well known educational institutions characterizes Zahoor Elahi Road. These include Forman Christian College and University which was established in 1864 (alumni include Cecil Chaudhry, General Pervez Musharraf, Mehmood Qureshi, Sir Abdul Rashid and Jahangir Tareen), as well as several private schools, which have been there for decades.

Of foodie options and shopping: Zahoor Elahi Road offers ample foodie options, including Time & Taste and Gourmet Bakery. However, if you are looking for more variety, had to the Gulberg Main Market which falls within a two-Kilometer radius, and treat yourself to Desi barbeque at Khan Baba Fish or Punjab Tikka House. While you are there, stop at the department stores which offer plenty of choice as far as clothes, fabric and furniture are concerned.

The real estate take: Property on Zahoor Elahi Road is primarily restricted to large houses. Almost 95% is built-up and vacant plots are few and far between; property is in high demand. Commercial property options are limited and include standalone shops and retail space in low-rise buildings. Property prices increase by 25% every year and rentals by 10%.

In a nutshell, Due to its central location and the presence of small commercial enterprises and educational institutions, Zahoor Elahi Road continues to be one of Lahore’s most charming residential areas.
