Asif Zardari To Set Record By Addressing Parliament

President Asif Ali Zardari will address the joint session of parliament for a record sixth time on 10th June (Monday) at 4:30 PM. Asif Ali Zardari made a record when he addressed the joint session of upper and lower house for fifth time in March 2013.

Asif Ali Zardari will be the first President of Pakistan to address the Parliament for sixth time. However his political party Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is now not in the government and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) has formed the government. Nawaz Sharif is Prime Minister who will also be present in the joint session.

Senator Farhatullah Babar, Presidential spokesman said that Presidential address was in the pipeline. He added that till now no formal invitation for joint session has been received yet.

“The President may, from time to time, summon either House or both Houses in joint sitting to meet at such time and place as he thinks fit and may also prorogue the same.” is stated by the Article 54 (1) of the Constitution.
