The Shariat Court were empowered to dispose of appeals filed in them arising from judgments and orders of the Session Judges in cases tried under Hudood Laws, and to decide on petitions made before them for determining whether and in what respect any existing law was repugnant to the Holy Quran and the Sunnah. The judgments of these Benches were made binding subject to decisions on appeals filed against them in the Shariat Appellate
