At the left is Lansdowne Bridge, one of the longest rigid girder bridges in the world inaugurated on March 25, 1889. On its right is the Ayub Bridge opened on May 6, 1962, the world’s third longest railway arch span. The bridge, a creation of Pakistani, American and British engineers, is named after former Pakistan president Ayub Khan and completed its Golden Jubilee on Sunday (May 6th) President Ayub Khan Era was also known as Decade of Development.
