In the original draft constitution of 1973 the NA consisted of 207 + 10 = 217 seats. However under the conduct of General Election Order 2002 when General Pervaiz Musharraf became Chief Executive the number of seats in senate, National Assembly and the Provincial Assemblies of Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan was increased. A person who intends to be elected to parliament has to be a citizen of Pakistan not less than 25 years of age and must possess graduation
