The extremists Hindus coupled with the Sikhs of Punjab started to kill the unarmed Muslims and to loot their property and wealth indiscriminately. The trains which were carrying the looted Muslims from India to Pakistan were burnt and looted and men, women, old and the children were slaughtered. Thousands of the Muslims were forced to leave homes and were killed. The terror feared refugees got refuge in Purana Qila of Lahore which was the city of glorious past of Muslims was converted in to the slaughter house
