It is produced in the land which is irrigated by means of canals. A large proportion of the sugar-cane is crushed for the production of “GUR” or “SHAKAR” and the rest is crushed in modern mills for the manufacture of refined crystal sugar.
 Sugar-cane is grown in nearly all the states of India. But most of it is produced in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Bìhar, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and some other states. The cultivation
