Quetta is located in a bowl-shaped valley surrounded by mountains. This city, with a population of about 700, 000, is the capital of Balochistan, and is the smallest of the provincial capitals but equal in importance. Quetta’s history begins with the arrival of Islam, but it does not have any of the Mughal features found in some of our cities. In the 18th century, Quetta came under the ruler of Kalat.
