Interior Ministry of Punjab has banned the entry of popular religious party Sunni Tehreek’s leader, Sarwat Ejaz Qadri in Punjab. In a recent notification issued by the Interior Ministry of Punjab, it is stated that the entry of Sarwat Ejaz Qadri has been banned in Punjab. Provincial Interior Ministry has stated in its notification that the initiative has been taken to avoid bad law and order situation in Punjab because there are some possibilities of bad law and order situation with the presence of Sarwat Ejaz Qadri in the province. In 2012, Sunni Tehreek had formed a political party with the name “Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (PST).
Provincial Interior Ministry has notified all the divisional commissioners in the written form, and Interior Ministries of other provinces including Sindh, KPK and Balochistan have been also informed regarding this initiative. On the other end, leaders of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek and Sunni Ittehad Council have strongly condemned the act of Punjab Government and said that they are rejecting dictatorship thought of Punjab Government. They said that Pakistan Muslim League N is making Punjab a Police state.
It is to be noted that the provincial governments have regularly imposes ban on different political leaders at different times to avoid any law and order situation.
