Army Chief General Raheel Sharif not handles Social Media: ISPR

“COAS Gen Raheel Sharif is not maintaining any twitter or Facebook account”, tweeted the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa on Thursday morning. The statement came after Raheel Sharif took the charge of Chief of Army Staff, as Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani retired from his position on November 29.

Several messages, status updates, welcoming words were upgraded through the accounts bearing Major Raheel’s name. Thus, the ISPR official stepped forward to clarify the false items. He termed all the accounts as fake. Since the army official had not been associated with social websites at any time.

Hence, associating any messages or words with him are wrong, stated Major Asim Bajwa. The fake account holders themselves circulated wrong posts on the social websites. To which many assumed to be true. However, it had not been the case.

Assuming the accounts to be official ones, fan following over the pages and accounts increased dramatically, after General Raheel took over the charge last month. General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani retired after serving as the military chief for last six years.
