Books On The Big Screen – Entertainment And Recreation

From the outrageous Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter to the action packed The hunger games earlier this year, 2012 has been a very literature inclined year for Hollywood. And this winter, several films that have been based on novel will be released. The most promising ones include:

The life of Pi is the first major literary adaptation of the season. Directed by Ang lee and based on the book by Yaan Martel, it follows the story of a boy. Pi, who is stranded at sea after his ship sinks and has to survive on a boat with a tiger for 227 days. Melding the books spiritual undertones with visual imagery will be instrumental to the success of the film, But if the telegraph is any thing to go by, Lee’s “magical” direction doesn’t disappoint.

Breaking Dawn 2 has been in the news for raking in over half a billion dollars world wide in just two weeks since its release. The movie centers on Rensemee, the half-human and half-vampire child of Bella and Edward, the star-crossed lovers, and their attempts to save the child from the evil Volturi. With action-packed scenes that boast of decapitated vampires and plenty of chases, the movie has every thing one can expect from the final installment of the twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer.

The Hobbit is the prequel to The Lord of The Rings (LOTR) by JRR Tolkien and is directed by Peter Jackson- who won 17 Oscars for the original trilogy, the Hobbit will be split into three parts which will be released each successive year; the first installment will focus on Bilbo Baggins as he wanders out of the Shire in search of adventure. The film has been shot in 3D,so expect a whole new dimension to middle earth, literally.
