Cholistan in Worst Condition Due to Water Shortage

Bahawalpur: Death clouded drought hit the city of Cholistan as 95 percent water wells dried up making 75 percent of residents to move. 100 of animals and resident’s cattle are dead due to the shortage of rain in the Cholistan, citizens and their calves use same water to drink, according to reports.

There is a lack of reaction from government, after the drought in Tharparkar; there is same response as it was in the last drought. There are no doctors available in basic health centers of the desert and that patients are treated by dispensers and watchmen which is pure injustice with them. There are quarter-to-2 lakh inhabitants in Cholistan. Due to the absence of health care centers and doctors there is a high increase in pregnancy related deaths.

cholistan areaResidents have informed that if authorities didn’t take any action according to time, human problems will increase day by day. Punjab government specified  a sum of 1 crore rupees for the repairing of pipelines that will supply water to the desert, maintaining that live continues normally in Cholistan as it has continued in Tharparkar.

Government is attentive to deal with any undesirable condition and all government organizations have completed planning, said by spokesman. Protective actions have been accomplished and that medical and veterinary camps have been established and cattle are being protected through mobile dispensaries, he further added. He more insisted that patients are being provided free medical care to treat seasonal diseases as long as they need medical facilities.
