Christmas Car of the Year

Neiman Marcus, the luxury retailers famed for their yuletide selection of high-end specialties, have double the 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volente their ‘Christmas Car of the Year’. Not only is the car exclusive (only 10 models will be rolled out) and expensive (priced at $344,500), it is also inspired by British royalty. It is Seychelles Blue in colour with sterling silver and faux enamel badging, along with liquid silver wheels, and these characteristics were apparent in the classic Aston Martin DB6 that Prince William and kate Middleton drove off in after their wedding.

Hand built in Gaydon, England, this convertible sports a 100% carbon-fiber shell — the first ever in the British automarker’s history – making it extremely lightweight. Its naturally-aspirated 6.0- litre V-12 engine produces 565 hp, allowing you to zip up from zero to 96.5 km/h in four seconds. And if this is not enough to get you revved up, keep an eye out for the Neiman Marcus Limited Edition Aston Martin Maserati Ghibli SQ4 – launched to celebrate the automaker’s 100th anniversary.

Named after the fearsome North African wind Ghibli, the Maserati roars to life with a powerful 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine, which reaches 96.5 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Only 100 models of this masterpiece have been created and each one costs a whopping $95,000 – and for good reason. The car has been dressed up with a fancy Grigio Maratea exterior, glossy black door handles and a shadow line exterior trim.

A special Neiman Marcus Edition number badge and the 100th anniversary logo have been placed on its centre console, giving each car a unique identity. Given that these beauties are currently on sale and can be shipped anywhere in the world, perhaps it is time to loosen those pure strings and get your hands on a masterpiece on wheels.
