Do Not Set Unrealistic Goals in Budget: Nawaz Sharif

PM \Nawaz SharifIslamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif warn to his economic team that to avoid setting unrealistic goals in the budget 2015-16. According to the sources, PM was chairing a meeting yesterday on a strategy for a coming fiscal year budget in which he advised to avoid unrealistic goals which could not achieved by government at time.

The sources said that Prime Minister warned his ministers during the meeting that “If you fail to achieve your goals so it will be cause of embarrassment for the government, so be careful.” On the other hand, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar expressed the hope that during the next fiscal year Gross Domestic Product (GDP) would be six percent. At which PM replied that 5% GDP or more than 5.5% is enough because if we fail to achieve six percent growth rate, people will criticize us.

However, government has set a target of about 25 billion dollars for export during the next fiscal year as Minister of Trade Khurram Dastgir Khan was looking hopeful to achieve this target but PM Nawaz Sharif said to him if he is satisfied with these figures, must take a review of it once again. PM further said to Minister that this target means that this will be achieved practically as it is not only to present in front of public.
