Due to an increasing demand for property, Block 15, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, has witnessed rapid development over the last decade. and has consequently emerged as an affluent and coveted neighbourhood. An old residential neighbourhood… As you drive along the wide, tree-lined thoroughfares that characterize Block 15, you will see a unique and aesthetically pleasing mix of old, rambling, brick houses, newly constructed luxury apartments and several gated communities.
Real estate agents operating there rely on the presence of shopping avenues, healthcare
facilities, educational institutions, not to mention plenty of green spaces, to convince people to purchase or rent houses and apartments there.
A commercial boom… The increase in the population density of Block 15 has led to a corresponding increase in construction; most of the recent investment has been directed towards the establishment of commercial enterprises and recreational avenues in order to cater to the
needs of the well-heeled living there.
Foodie and shopping stops… The most well-known landmark in the area is Continental Bakery, whose claim to fame has remained the traditional halwa puri breakfast that draws in crowds on weekends. Recent developments include a mini Food Street offering treats for desi taste buds, including mouth-watering chaat and gol gappas and delectable shawarma platters. Furthermore, what was once a cluster of small shops has evolved into a bustling commercial market, where you can find unstitched fabric, pret and couture, not to mention wide ranging fashion accessories, including but not limited to, handbags, jewellery and footwear.
The real estate take… Residential property options include houses and apartments and commercial property options include standalone shops, retail space in low- and high-rise buildings, as well as makeshift stalls on pavements. Property prices and rentals increase by seven to 10% and 14% respectively every year.
In a nutshell… Given the pace of development, Block 15 is well on its way towards becoming one
of the most sought-after residential neighbourhoods in northern Karachi.
