Home Based Women Bangle Workers UnionHyderabad: The Home Based Women Bangle Workers Union staged a protest while demanding approval of their facilities and demands from government on Saturday near the local press club. The protest was held with the help of banners, posters and vocalized sayings of their needs as they wanted all basic facilities and rights of working labors.

The protest was carried out under the leadership of Home-Based Women Workers Federation general secretary Zehra Khan and Jamila Abdul Latif, who is the general secretary of union’s Hyderabad chapter. They both leaders raised their voice for the increase in salaries of workers, offer facilities to their children of health and education, registration of workers with the social security department, computerized national identity cards (CNICs) must be issued to women workers, facilities of power supply, gas and restoration of sewerage must be provided in the areas of women workers.

Some women employees of the glass bangles industry had lost their thumb prints due to the poisonous chemical used in industry, protestors claimed. They further told that women workers of the industry were also fighting from several diseases such as cancer, blindness, TB, rheumatism and skin problems because of toxic chemicals. Zehra Khan and Jamila Abdul Latif said that Home-Based Women Bangle Workers are the reason behind the revenue of millions of rupees yearly but still they are deprived from all basic facilities.
