How Many Companies Are Registered In Pakistan?

Companies in Pakistan Islamabad: There are almost 67,623 companies registered in Pakistan as recently 5,001 more new companies have also been registered by the Secur­ities and Exchange Comm­ission of Pakistan (SECP) during the fiscal year 2014-15. According to the details, among these registered companies, 90% number of them are private limited, 6% of them are single member and 4% registered as public unlisted, non-profit associations, trade organizations and foreign companies.

However services sector boosted with the help of incorporation of 635 companies as well as 578 trading, 480 information technology, 333 constructions, 401 tourism, 16 education, 144 food and beverages, 198 corporate agricultural farming, 149 fuel and energy, 121 textiles, 142 communications and power generation, 115 real estate development, 116 pharmaceuticals, 106 engineering and 107 broadcasting and telecasting companies played vital role in the private sector during the fiscal year 2014-15.

On the other hand, 243 new companies also have foreign investment as these companies belongs from different countries such as Afghanistan, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cameron, Canada, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia, Mauritius, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, North Korea, Norway, Oman, Palestine, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Sweden, Switzerland, Tanzania, Turkey, Turkmenistan, the United Arab Emirates, the UK and the United States.

Likewise, 42 other foreign companies from Australia, Bahrain, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey, the UAE, the UK and the US have also listed in Pakistan in fiscal year. Although, 1,392 companies filed returns for an increase along with Rs434 billion as an authorized capital increment. Whereas 1,415 companies also filed returns for increase in the authorized capital with Rs132 billion. However only 192 companies were sanctioned for returns for an increase in the authorized capital along with total authorized capital increment worth rupees Rs36 billion. While returns for increase was also filed by 189 companies in the paid-up capital of Rs10 billion.

474 new companies were registered by SECP in the month of June in which 89% of them were listed as private limited. As most of the companies among them are related to chemical, fuel and energy, construction, electrical goods, food and beverages, trading, pharmaceutical, services, transport and cable, power generation and engineering.

Update: In January 2018 the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 4,954 new companies, raising the total number of companies to 83,879.
