Infected Australian Sheep In Karachi – Shameful Incident !!!

It was very sad to see that 21000 Australian infected sheep suffering from scabby mouth disease were brought to Karachi. More than 75000 sheep departed from Australia and their destination was Middle East countries. 53000 sheep were offloaded in Qatar and Oman and remaining 22000 were to be transported to Bahrain but because of infection they were brought to Pakistan.

Scabby mouth disease can also infect humans. This scandal was covered by international media and then by Pakistan media which made hue and cry on this issue. After pressure from media and people Commissioner Karachi, Roshan Ali Shaikh ordered the culling and disposing of 21000 Australian sheep. It is shame that how ports of Karachi clear these type of infected sheep.

This shows that ports in Pakistan are not doing their job properly and anyone can import anything from anywhere in the world. Concerned authorities must look into this and appoint credible people on those posts which clear imported items.
