When partition of India took place them the areas which were given to Pakistan had a very few industries and out of them also many industries belonged to Hindus who closed them and migrated to India.
Pakistan had to import everything right from needle to cotton cloth and all other industrial products and consumer goods from India and abroad. In fact the English rulers during their ruling period regarded the Muslims to be their enemies and they deliberately tried to keep the Muslims backward in all walks of life.
In all the Muslim majority areas which now from part of Pakistan they have not helped the Muslims to establish industries and Pakistan had to start the industries right from the scratches.
