MQM Saulat Mirza Execution Postponed

Saulat MirzaKarachi: The execution of political activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Saulat Mirza has postponed by federal government as orders of delay of sentence of MQM’s activist has also been sent to the Sindh Home Department by federal government on Monday. According to the further reports, Government decided to postpone the execution of Saulat Mirza in order to keep calm MQM as this issue was the matter of high anxiety for MQM.

It is worth mentioning here that in April, 2014 Saulat Mirza was transferred to the Machh jail, Balochistan from Central Prison Karachi with four top criminals. Mirza’s brother appealed to the high court in May 2014 by claiming that to move him to a Karachi prison as his brother Saulat Mirza was moved to the Machh jail without any notice or instructions of the high profile authority after which Mirza was again shifted to Central Prison Karachi on security basis.

Convicted activist of MQM Saulat Mirza was blamed for murder of managing director of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) named was Shahid Hamid, as well as he also killed Shahid Hamid’s driver Ashraf Brohi and guard Khan Akhbar in July 1997 near Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area of Karachi. In this regard, anti-terrorism court of Karachi ordered to sentence death to Mirza on May 24, 1999.
