After resigning from the government service, Muhammad Ali Jauhar adopted journalism as profession and he remained a journalist till his last breath. He not only joined journalism but took it to its height. He published his English news paper from Calcutta with the title ‘Comrade’ which used to be not only a news paper but a piece of literature also.
Comrade became the true interpreter of the sentiments of the Indian Muslims. Jauhar wrote the articles of high repute in Comrade which became nightmare for the enemies of Islam and specially the British. Comrade used to pay the critiques in the same coins in the most effective and aggressive manner.
Comrade became a popular news paper due to its fearless articles and constructive criticism. Comrade was an English news paper but for Urdu knowing readers, he also started a Urdu news paper from Delhi with the title ‘Hamdard’.
