Pakistan Post Suffered Rs. 1.6 Billion Loss Since 1947

Pakistan PostIslamabad: Pakistan Post had suffered from great loss of Rs. 1.6 Billion since 1947 due to frauds and cheatings, told by Communications Secretary Shahid Khan Tarrar to the Public Accounts committee on Thursday. 115 fraud cases of Rs100.2 million had been reported earlier in Pakistan Post as 54 officers found to be involved in alleged cases of corruption due to which almost 33 FIRs had also filed against these officers, Shahid Khan added.

Communications Secretary further told the meeting that National Accountability Bureau and the Federal Investigation Agency has solved several cases and also recovered Rs24 million up to now. After reducing corruption cases, Pakistan Post become able to produce Rs3.5 billion transactions per day as well as changes also occurred in the wake of betterment of system, Shahid Khan added.

On the other hand, Audit officials also drawn meeting’s attention towards funds of Pakistan Post while saying that Rs83 million is also presented up till now in the fund account which was raised by Pakistan Post illegally for postal services but only Rs1 million has been used from this amount during one year. After which communications secretary has been ordered by the committee to take approval from the finance ministry in order to re-launch the fund by depositing Rs8.2 million along with finance division.
