Immediate after the division of Punjab, the communal riots sprung out throughout Punjab. The extremists Hindus coupled with the Sikhs of Punjab started to kill the unarmed Muslims and to loot their property and wealth indiscriminately. The trains which were carrying the looted Muslims from India to Pakistan were burnt and looted and men, women, old and the children were slaughtered.
Thousands of the Muslims were forced to leave homes and were killed. The terror feared refugees got refuge in Purana Qila of Lahore which was the city of glorious past of Muslims was converted in to the slaughter house for the Muslims.
The area from Delhi to Punjab was a dreadful area. The caravans over caravans started to move towards Pakistan in search of refuge.
