Role Of NWFP (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) In Pakistan Movement

1st January 1901, on which day Lord Curzon ordered the formation of a new Pukhtoon province of NWF was, therefore, a red letter day in the history of the pakhtun people. From the same day, other architects, both British and Pakhtoons, started building up the Pakhtoon national structure.

Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum helped by his friend, Sir George Rooskeppel, then Chief Commissioner of the NWFP, established the Islamia Colligiate School and college in 1913. With this principal educational institution, the foundation of Pakhtoon national renaissance through education was firmly laid.

It brought with it local patriotism, national consciousness and faith and pride in their national destiny. The Frontier Muslim League had been formed as early as 1912 and its organisers were drawn from educated population the of Peshawar
