The story of the Pakistan Movement has to be read elsewhere. Here we are concerned only with the role that the Ulema played in it. Maulana Abul Ala Moudoodi’s careful analysis of the policies of the Muslim League opened many eyes. He manipulated policies of All India Muslim League in such a way that he managed to turn a number of Muslim away from Muslim League by calling Pakistan as Na-Pakistan.
Abul Ala Moudoodi’s writings furnish best modern argument against concept of nationalism in Islam. His chief objection to policy of Muslim League & to idea of Pakistan was that they were based on theory of nationalism, which he held to be incompatible with Islam. He argued thus, Nationalism is not only a wrong way of thinking but is real cause of all those disasters which have overwhelmed world.
