Seth Run Company Issue Discussion With Workplace Sanity

Dear Workplace Sanity, I Completed my MBA in Human Resource Management from a renowned institution with flying colors. I have been working in the HR department of a leading organization since the past two years. My current company is the Seth run company and the working environment is not a dream. I had joined this company at the beginning of my career with the intention of becoming part of a big, well known company rather than a small entity.

Now I am bored and anxious due to the long working hours and the unacceptable working environment. I decide to switch my job and sent my resume to several well-known organizations. I immediately received interview calls, but unfortunately I failed. The reason behind these failures, I realize, is a lack of self confidence during the interviews. I am becoming even more frustrated after these failures and I think my current company is the reason for this because it has caused me to be anxious. I think my current company has destroyed my personal life and shaken my confidence. Please suggest how I can overcome this lack of confidence and move forward. Loss of Confidence Syndrome.

Dear Loss of Confidence Syndrome, While an interview rejection in itself is not catastrophic, in your current environment it probably feels like “the straw that broke the camel’s back”. It is the tripping point that has pushed your normally confident attitude into a disorienting, downward spiral of self-doubt and anxiety. Please just stop it! Pause. Take a deep breath. Now, choose your FOCUS. Focus is your brains way of building and hardworking select neural pathways.

Hebb’s Law states that ‘Neurons that fire together, wire together,’ If you focus on failures and difficulties, you will develop neural pathways that are efficient at recognizing failure. If you focus on desired goals and outcomes, then you will strengthen your brains ability to find ways to achieve these outcomes.

Sure, maybe you really did mess up or there are people you can blame, but right now recognize that you have a CHOISE. You can either keep focusing on everything that is wrong and earn a PhD in BAD… or start focusing on the GOOD and steer your brain in the right direction. So what will you choose as your focus?
