Shah Abdul Aziz (1746-1824)- A Brief Profile

After the death of Shah Waliullah his son and successor, Shah Abdul Aziz, succeeded him in assuming the educational, spiritual and political leadership of the Muslims, who was only 17 years old at the death of his father. The followers of Shah Waliullah, however, accepted him as their leader, because he had the intellectual capacity necessary for a leader in those turbulent times.

Shah Abdul Aziz completed his education under guidance of his father’s disciples. Maulana Mohammad Ishaque & Maulana Mohammad Amin Kashmiri taught him Hadith & Maulana Noorullah his father-in-law guided him in Islamic jurisprudence.

Shah Waliullah’s reformation had stimulated elite, but middle & lower classes had remained virtually untouched. He was loved and respected by high and low alike.
