Strict Action Against Cinemas On Not Playing National Anthem: Fakhr

Karachi: New trend of not playing the national anthem before the screening of films in cinemas has been seen. It has been decided that strict actions would be taken against such cinema theaters. Film certification system would prevail instead of censorship recommendations. These words were spoken by the chairman of the Sindh Board of Film Censors, Fakhr-e-Alam while addressing to the cultural committee outside the press club.

He said that there remain flaws in Film Motion Act. Decisions have been taken upon to make the changes in the Sindh film certification and development authority better. The celebrity expressed his desire of establishing offices, cinema and film academies in Karachi by following NEFDEC Islamabad pattern. Alam said that we would look forward to contributions both from private public partnership so that the government is not burdened to pay the hefty amount.

The chairman said that it remains a fact that Indian film industry immensely contributed to our industry, but we should appreciate our local directors and producers. ‘Actions would be taken against the running of the cinema houses that violate the censorship policies’, he added.

The Pakistani actor further said that the practice of privacy would be strongly dealt. He said that the establishing of more than 100 cinemas in Sindh that are in progress would help to uplift the unemployment and the crisis that our cinema industry is facing. Vj musician stated that no compromise would be done over the violation of the policies. ‘Our cinema industry is called to be a part of industry but no policies are considered during their working operation’.

He said that our cinema industry can play much role in alleviating our economic status. ‘As a chairman I look forward to enforcing the structured system and laws and if they are not implemented, I would go back home’, said Alam.
