A relative of mine living in Karachi wants to go to US as her daughter is living there. My relative was informed that she has to visit US consulate located at Mai Kolachi. She told me that when she reached there, she faced a tight security procedure before reaching the interview place. She was restricted from taking anything to US consulate. Even drinking water was not allowed.
According to her the consulate looks like a jail for those who have come for their visa procedure. Lot of checking was being done and US consulate staff make sure that everyone is checked completely.
From 1st March, 2012 US Consulate Karachi is open for all tourist visa applications.
