Vocational and technical education and training is provided at three levels:
1. Certificate level, to which students are generally admitted after a minimum of 8-10 years of general education for short-term certificate trade courses of vocational schools (grades IX-X).
2. Diploma level, to which students are admitted after matriculation, following 10 years of schooling, of which the last two to five years may be in a vocational/technical stream, for three-year diploma courses (grades XI-XIII).
3. Degree level, for which courses are offered at some general univesities, agricultural universities and engineering and medical colleges and universities. The first degree in professional subjects generally required a minimum of three to five year’s study after grade XII. In Pakistan training facilities in the specialized fields of medicine, engineering and agriculture are also available.
