Ziauddin Medical College Scandal Leaked

Karachi: The former Minister of Petroleum Dr. Asim Hussain has found to be involved in alleged corruption of Ziauddin Medical College in which he has issued additional seats to Zia-ud-Din Medical College. It has revealed by the PMDC special audit report Dr. Asim allotted 50 extra seats to Zia ud Din Medical College in the year 2010 by violating the rules and regulations of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).

Report of PMDC also said that Zia-ud-Din Medical College did not contact with Ministry of Health for the increment of further more MBBS seats in the college as they directly requested to the Registrar of PMDC in this regard on 30^th December, 2013. However the decision was approved during the meeting of executive committee which was held on 22^nd December, 2013. It is pertinent to mention that special audit report of PMDC was emerged on the request of Raja Amjad who is the registrar of PMDC.

However, PMDC had also approved increase in seats in the year 2007 due to which irregular increase of 50 MBBS seats was emerged annually. It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Asim Hussain, the former Chairman Sindh Higher Education Commission was arrested by law enforcement agencies and was given to Rangers for 90 days remand due to several allegations on him.
