Concept of Government By Quaid-e- Azam

Quaid-e- Azam expressed such ideas several times that the constitution of the country will be framed by the Constituent Assembly. He did not live long to guide the Assembly in this behalf. He, nevertheless, had a clear concept of the type of government which will b acceptable to the people of Pakistan.

He was of the view that Quran serves as the practical source of the precepts and principles enunciated by Islam; that sovereignty lies neither with a King, nor an individual, or an organization but with Allah, and, that Quranic precepts lay down the limitations of our social and political freedom.

For the establishment of Quranic order, the Muslims of the subcontinent need territory and a state. Expressing his ideas about the foundations of the Pakistani government at Sibbi Durbar, on 14 February 1948, Quaid-e-Azam said:

“It is my belief that our salvation lies in following the golden rules of conduct set for us by our great law-giver, the Prophet of islam. Let us lay the foundation of our democracy on the basis of truly Islamic ideals and principles. Our Almighty has taught us that our decisions in the affairs of the state shall be guided by discussions and consultations”
