Karachiites to Get Water After One Day Gap Due to Water Board

hubDamKarachi: The citizens of Karachi will be getting water supply by a gap of one day instead of getting daily water supply from 1st of March 2014, announced Managing Director of water board. Qutubuddin Shaikh the M.D of water board has also said that this will be done as the water level in dams will reach a dangerous level till that time.

Mr. Qutubuddin Shaikh, M.D of water board visited the dams where he prayed for a rainfall. After his prayer he said that the reason due to which water level in dams has decreased is illegal hydrants. A bill will soon be presented in Sindh Assembly against those who are running illegal hydrants, added the director.

In the bill it will be stated that those who will use illegal hydrants will face a sentence of 10 years with 5 lacs of fine. Water level of the Hub dam is up to 36 foot and has not increased since last five years, M.D added.

He also requested Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (K.E.S.C) not to cut powers of pumping stations as they are used to supply water to citizens. Citizens are requested to pray for rainfall as the water level in dams has reached to dangerous levels due to which 4 to 5 crore gallon of water will be supplied to the whole city, Vice Chairman Water board Sajid Jokhio. Previously 10 crore gallons were being supplied to the city.
