Madadgaar National Helpline Zia Ahmed Awan Says Govt Has Failed

Zia Ahmed AwanKarachi: Founder of Madadgaar National Helpline Zia Ahmed Awan said that the Federal and provincial governments has failed to provide rights of children, women and youth. The government miserably failed in providing protection to the children as 6,444 cases of violence against children were recorded.

Advocate Zia Ahmed Awan said that it has proven now that the system of the state is too weak to safe children and women that are suffering from violence, abuse and exploitation. He expressed his views during addressing to the workshop of “Pakistan Security System for Women, Children and Youth”.

National workshop has been held by the Madadgaar National Helpline in which a wide range of Civil Society Committee, Children Rights Movement, officers of F.I.A Law Enforcement, doctors, nurses, advocates and students has attended this worship from all the four provinces.

By giving the welcome address, Zia Ahmed Awan said that the violence towards girls and women is very common. Women’s and girl’s abuse are not only seen by the feudal and patriarchal mind-set of the society, but it has also seen in our society that women are abused even by their husbands like feudal. Zia Ahmed Awan further added that After the Article A-25, government had announced education to be compulsory and also declared punishment for those parents who do not educate their children. But this law did not completely applicable.

Meherafroze Habib – Vice President of APWA also said that Civil Society and Media should lead a Campaign for the awareness from the rights of children and women.
