MQM Sector In-charge Rafiq Rajput Remanded For 90 Days

MQM_logoKarachi: Anti-terrorism court ordered rangers to take remand of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s Mehmoodabad’s sector in charge Rafiq Rajput for 90 days. According To the details, suspect Rafiq Rajput was presented in front of a huge contingent of Rangers on Monday at anti-terrorist court No. 3 with a jail warrant and detention order.

However rangers told to the court that accused Rafiq Rajput got arrested on Saturday night from Mehmoodabad during a search operation and there are credible reports that he is involved in tragedy of 12th May 2007 including some serious crimes as well. Therefore, court decided to take remand of him for 90 days by rangers under Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO).

According to the rangers’ sources, Rajput Rafiq is an officer of eighteen grade in a bank and the bank has been informed of the suspect’s criminal record. On the other hand, suspect’s lawyer says that Rafiq Rajput is innocent and is being politically victimized.

Earlier Sunday night at a press conference, MQM’s leaders condemned the arrest of their senior leader Rafiq Rajput and blame on him for involving in violent incident of 12th May. While MQM leader Amir Khan claimed that his party’s fourteen workers were killed on May 12 but not a single murderer has been arrested yet.
