New Innovations Should Be Implemented In Agriculture Sector Of Pakistan

Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) Chairman Dr. Muneer Ahmed said that we need to modernize the agriculture sector. He was addressing a conference of Board of Investment (BOI) panel.

Agricultural Innovation Program (AIP) is the product of consultative process regarding science and innovation in agriculture development which is lead by the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC).

Pakistan produces 7 million ton fruits and around 5 million ton vegetables. It is perishable items that’s why 25 to 35 percent are spoiled, if we want to save the excess production we need to make cold storage plant where transportation facility are easily available on affordable prices.

Chairman Dr. Muneer Ahmed said that we need to give proper attention to the agriculture industry. We should make precision agriculture investment. So that provides benefits to farmers and growers. As well as control cost of production and improve production capacity.

Executive Director General Board of Investment Muhammad Saleem Ahmad Ranjha told that our agriculture sector has 23 percent share in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and export 75 percent of total agriculture export.

Further he said that government has failed to provide basic facilities to farmers and growers. They didn’t apply new innovations regarding agriculture technology. Despite of this carelessness Pakistan has 10th number in the food producing countries.
