Shah Mahmood Qureshi Brother Joins PPP

Islamabad: Makhdoom Mureed Qureshi, brother of former foreign minister and vice chairperson of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) has joined PPP, after  not being assured from the party to get ticket from PP219 in the next election that he had lost in the year 2008, new sources have learnt.

Sources have revealed that Co-Chairman of the acting government, PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari has tried to rope younger brother of the former minister to use him as a tool for settling scores with Shah Mehmood Qureshi and to use him as an agent against PTI.

It is said that after the corruption case has been registered against the MNA, Ali Musa Raza Gillani, the former Prime Minister called upon Makhdoom Mureed Qureshi to rejoin PPP. It has been further revealed that President Zardari had also assured him of gaining constituency earlier, along with providing developmental funds to him so that he can win political support for PPP from his area to fight against Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Earlier in December 2011, Yousuf Raza Gillani had succeeded to reap ill feelings amongst the two brothers when in the by-polls Mehmood Qureshi supported his son instead of his brother. However, the two brothers managed to develop better understanding soon thereby failing the PPP tactics.

The Qureshi family enjoys good constituency inMultan.
