‘Zinda Bhag’ After ‘Saving Face’ In Oscars?

Another Pakistani movie has made successfully to get into Oscar Nomination Awards. ‘Zinda Bhag’ has been considered for the Oscar nomination by the Pakistan Academy Selection Committee. It is the first ever movie in the Pakistan media history to be placed in the ‘Foreign Language Film Award’ category at the 86 Th Academy Awards.

At the Mosaic MISAFF festival held in Toronto this year, the movie had win over four awards. Chambeli, Josh, Lamha (Seedling) had also been considered for Oscar nomination but ‘Zinda Bhag’ managed to get selected by the PASC. Every year, each country participating in the Academy Awards chooses one of the films for the category. The Oscar nominated film is chosen through ballots by PASCS, screened and then shortlisted.

‘The movie tells the story in a different and innovative way’, said Mehreen Jabbar, one of the very fine directors of Pakistan, who is also the Committee member. Presenting her thoughts, she spoke that the approach and content the movie carries makes it a sign of welcoming contribution to the revival of Pakistan cinema industry.

By 8, January 2014 the final list of Oscar nominees for all the categories would be chosen by the Academy of Motion Pictures and Arts.

The 86 Academy Awards is scheduled to take place next year on 2 nd March 2014. However, the final presentation and the list before the event would be made on 16 Th January 2014.

It is a thrilling comedy story about pursuing your pain-staking dreams which are part of the reality of our daily lives. Naseeruddin Shah, Amna Ilyas and Khurram Patras will be seen among the leading roles. The movie is directed by Meenu Gaur and written by Farjad Nabi.
