Earlier applicant Saleem Raza took a stand in his filed application that licenses were issued for opening Sharaab Khanaay in different areas of minorities in the city. It is also added in the application that several Sharaab Khanay have also set in Muslim majority areas such as Boat Basin, Zamzama, Sea View, Clifton, Defense and Karongi in the guise of minority areas.

Applicant Saleem Raza also told to the court that people are also tensed due to formation of wine pubs in residential areas as DG Excise and Taxation has brought no proceedings in this regard. He asked to the court to sought complete details of wine pubs as well as also ordered to seal all illegal pubs which have founded in several areas of the city. It is pertinent to mention that there are several wine shops located in Karachi which are operating illegally even under the supervision of police too.
